Research in biodiversity conservation is critical to the protection of public health and the progression of knowledge that welfare both human and nature.Biodiversity conservation denotes to the protection, upliftment, and organization of biodiversity in order to develop ecological welfare for current and future generations. Our aim of research collection work is on both scientific and social scientific dimensions in effective of ecological and bio geographical systems, with principal interests in diversity theory, ecosystem dynamics, conservation bio geography, conservation governance, biodiversity and climate adaptation and conservation and traditional ecological knowledge.Biodiversity comprises of genetic variability and diversity of living forms like animal microbes, plants etc. surviving in a broad range of ecosystems. It should be known that there are three interconnected hierarchical levels of biodiversity, i.e., genetic diversity, community or ecosystem diversity and species diversity.Hence, biodiversity conservation is all about protecting all organisms and species within their natural habitats with an aim of ensuring intragenerational and intergenerational equity. Activities such as habitat fragmentation, human disturbance, and habitat loss have to be prevented to enrich biodiversity conservation measures.

Research in biodiversity conservation has the following intentions:

  • To preserve the diversity of species.
  • Sustainable utilization of species and ecosystem.
  • To conserve life-supporting systems and essential ecological processes.
  • Conservation of biological diversity leads to conservation of essential ecological diversity to preserve the continuity of food chains.
  • The genetic diversity of plants and animals is preserved.
  • It ensures the sustainable utilization of life support systems on earth.
  • It provides a vast knowledge of potential use to the scientific community.
  • A reservoir of wild animals and plants is preserved, thus enabling them to be introduced, if need be, in the surrounding areas.
  • Biological diversity provides immediate benefits to the society such as recreation and tourism.
  • Biodiversity conservation serves as an insurance policy for the future.

The research provides the science to develop new recommendations to improve nature protection, enhance welfare and maintain ecological balance. Many contributions of biodiversity conservation research were the results of society’s recognition of its important role and society’s subsequent support in the form of human, fiscal, and infrastructural resources. The current level of support for research in biodiversity conservation, however, has not kept pace with the challenges posed by new and emerging threats and the nation’s growing demands for knowledge in nature welfare. That society’s needs are outgrowing our knowledge base is seen in examples of missed opportunities to safeguard and improve human and animal health and nature welfare.Hence the aim of the center for research in biodiversity conservation concentrates on the protection of nature as well as resources that are essential for life on earth. It also encourages technology and biotechnology to ensure genetic resources for conservation and sustainable use of biodiversity.
