World Water Day “March 22”2020

Focusing on the importance of freshwater International World Water Day is celebrated on 22nd March every year. The United Nations General Assembly initiated this response on 22 March 1993 as the first World Water Day. This year’s theme, “Water and Climate Change,” highlights the urgent importance of strengthening water security and establishing access to a sustainable water supply in the face of changing climate conditions worldwide. Water is one of the most precious elements in the world we cannot live without it.

By adapting to the water effects, we will protect health and save lives. And, by using water more efficiently, we will reduce greenhouse gases. Some important themes so far observed on the World Water Day are “Clean Water for a Healthy World”, “Caring for our water resources is everybody’s business”, “Coping with Water scarcity”, “Water and Culture”, “Water and Disasters” and “Water for Future”.

Water day raises awareness among 2.2 billion people living without access to safe water. It is about taking action to tackle the global water crisis. It’s an opportunity to learn more about water related issues, be inspired to tell others and take action to make a difference. Water is an essential building block of life. It is more than just essential to quench thirst or protect health; water is vital for creating jobs and supporting economic, social, and human development.

Increasing global population depletes natural resources and damages the environment in many places. Solutions include protecting carbon sinks such as oceans and wetlands, adopting climate-smart agricultural techniques, and increasing the safe reuse of wastewater.

Water is our most precious resource we must use it more responsibly. We must balance all of society’s water needs while ensuring the poorest people don’t get left behind. There are several organizations around the world which are dedicated to the task of conserving water and making the world a healthier place.
